: Suzanne Propp & Josh Margolis

(An extra special thanks to those of you who remembered to bring food for the Food Pantry at the Gillespie Center.  If you forgot, you can drop food off any time.  It's located behind Restoration Hardware, up the hill from Matsu Sushi.)

We'll keep you posted on our next gig. In the meantime...keep singing!

my very favorite moment of the night:

SING EVERYDAY!

Professor Graham Welch, Chair of Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of London, who has studied developmental and medical aspects of singing for 30 years says:

The health benefits of singing are both physical and psychological. Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even when sitting. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress levels through the action of the endocrine system which is linked to our sense of emotional well-being. Psychological benefits are also evident when people sing together as well as alone because of the increased sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour. Check out the "SONG OF THE DAY" below.

SONG OF THE DAY

Today's SONG OF THE DAY is "Come Play With Me" by Suzanne Sherman Propp (Written in 2002, it's the song that's playing on this website! Or, you can buy it on iTunes.)

CHORUS:
Come play with me, come play with me.
Come play with me, come play with me.

VERSE 1:
Come play with me when the day’s begun
Hopscotch, jump rope, skip and run
Throw a ball or climb a tree
Come play with me!

CHORUS

VERSE 2:
Come play with me when the sun is high
Sell lemonade to each passing guy
Take a swim in the sea,
fly a kite in the sky
Come play with me.

BRIDGE:
Come play with me, it’s a perfect day
Rain or sun or cloudy day
Don’t care what I’m doing,
just want to be doing,
the things that I’m doing today.

RECORDER BREAK

VERSE 2:
Come play with me when the day is done,
Catch fireflies, say “goodbye” to the sun
Our imaginations will run and run
Come play with me.

CHORUS (repeat 2x)

Video from The Levitt Pavillion -- July 2009

Getting ready for Suzanne's upcoming performance at the Levitt Pavillion on July 27, we realized we had never posted any of the video we captured last year.  Here's a link the the first one, an amazing round featuring the Colgate 13 Alumni of Fairfield County, Suzanne and the amazing Emily Mikesell.

Check it out!!

"Running Home" on MLB.com!!

Guess what!! Suzanne's song "Running Home" was selected as the soundtrack for MLB.com's gorgeous montage of the 2009 baseball season. Please help us spread the word.

Produced with help from Suzanne's talented brother Russell Sherman, the video captures key moments from the year in a way that is emotionally satisfying (even if you happen to root for the "other" NY team...) and has more than a few goosebump moments. Click here for the full story on this very special montage.

Thanks to all the folk at MLB for taking such good care of our little song.

If you'd like to purchase the MLB.com produced video "Season Review 2009" (set to the tune of Suzanne's little league anthem "Running Home") click here, and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Nice Review from Common Sense Media

Check out this great review of Suzanne's CD "Play" by the nice folk at Common Sense Media.  They "get" it!!

Common Sense is a great resource for kids, btw...

Our Favorite Quote

Here's a quote that makes us smile:

"A word to all Westporters (and all non-Westporters as well): go out and buy Mrs. Propp’s CD. Your kids will love it! My children listen to it all the time, especially in the car, and now they’re singing the words because they’ve listened to it so much! The music is great and there are some very catchy tunes. Sometimes I find myself humming a song at work and realize that it’s one of Mrs. Propp’s songs. Enough said. It’s well worth it!"
